Drawstring Rucksack

Drawstring Rucksack

A local branding firm approached me to create a 10 year work anniversary gift for one of their employees. After a brief meeting and discussion with the client, we determined that he wanted a sleek and utilitarian backpack that could be used on a daily basis.

Inspiration
While exploring different backpack designs, I settled on a drawstring rucksack. The large opening makes access easy, while the flap and drawstring keep everything secure and protected from the elements.

Execution
I designed this pattern so that it required as few pieces as possible. I used an oiled and waxed chrome-tanned leather. This makes the backpack durable, weather resistant, supple, and easy to maintain. It features one exterior pocket and has Molle Webbing that allows the user to attach pouches and accessories to the rucksack. The interior pocket fits up to a 15” laptop. Foam padding stitched between the exterior leather and suede lining provides cushion between the contents of the bag and the user’s back. The shoulder straps are adjustable with steel buckles.
